Main article: Radiation

The dosimeter is a utility item equipped in the player's primary item slot. It is a personal radiation detector that displays both the current level of background radiation near the player and the total radiation dose accumulated by the player.

To use the dosimeter, the player must equip it in their primary item slot. Once equipped, the dosimeter is turned on and off by clicking LMB. Like the OsRat, the dosimeter is powered by AA batteries which, when depleted, can be reloaded by pressing G.

The dosimeter displays radiation readings measured in sieverts (Sv), millisieverts (mSv), and microsieverts (µSv), a unit of total ionizing radiation dose. The dosimeter displays two numbers: the top number indicates the level of background radiation near the player, measured in Sv, mSv or µSv per game hour, and the bottom number indicates the total radiation dose accumulated by the player, measured in Sv, mSv or µSv.

The dosimeter updates 3 times per second and randomly shifts the real values to simulate a real dosimeter's randomness (as radiation from decaying unstable elements is random). The dose rate (top value) will randomly show between 90% and 110% of the real value, and the total dose (bottom value) will ranodmly show between 98% and 102% of the real value. This does not actually affect your radiation dose or dose rate.

Sievert Unit Conversion
1 sievert (Sv) 1000 millisieverts (mSv) 1,000,000 microsieverts (µSv)

The player is warned by Heska Pavonen to keep their accumulated radiation dose below 1 Sv which is a lethal dose of radiation. The player should consider leaving an irradiated area if their accumulated radiation dose approaches 700 - 800 mSv and seek medical interventions immediately.
